Vinyl Installation

Because of the emphasis we place on professional installation, we believe it’s important for our customers to know what to expect on installation day.

Simply put, we’ll take care of the basics! Before you make a purchase, we’ll send out an estimator to measure your home and determine how much product you’ll need. This helps minimize waste in addition to cutting costs for you. Once your installation has been scheduled, you’ll have a chance to speak to your installer to get on the same page about what he or she will be responsible for as well as a schedule that works for both of you. Note that our team will likely need the use of electrical outlets to power their tools while in your workspace.

Before installation day, your installer may request that you allow your product to acclimate. The specifics will vary; generally, this means to let your new vinyl planks or tiles sit in a climate-controlled space for a certain amount of time.

If necessary, our team will move your furniture. However, you’ll be responsible for moving smaller items such as lamps, electronics, décor & wall hangings, as well as the contents of any drawers, cabinets, or closets. Larger, oversized items (think pianos or grandfather clocks) may not be within our realm of capability, so be sure to let us know about any unusual objects you have in your space. We can arrange for a third party to help move these if necessary.

Some vinyl can be installed as a floating floor over your existing flooring surface. If necessary, however, we can remove & dispose of your existing flooring. In doing so, we’ll remove any moulding or trim from the room’s perimeter and prep your subfloor so that it’s clean & level for installation. Note that you may need to repair, replace, or repaint your moulding or trim if it gets damaged during removal. Our team will be as careful as possible, but these elements are often fragile and we cannot be held responsible if they’re damaged.

Your installer may also need to remove doors to complete your installation. If your new vinyl floors sit too high for your existing doors to clear after installation, we may recommend that you have your doors trimmed or cut down before replacing them to prevent damage to your new floors.

Once installation is complete, your installer may advise you to stay off your new floors for a set amount of time while adhesives set. As you begin to move your furniture back into place, we highly recommend adding felt pads to each furniture leg or any other part of your furniture that will come in direct contact with your new luxury vinyl. This will help to minimize any scratching or denting.

Some other tips to keep in mind:

• Please make sure an adult member of your household is home at your scheduled installation time.
• Keep children or pets away from the workspace to prevent injury.
• Report any post-installation issues as soon as possible so we can return to fix them if needed.
• You may notice a lingering odor for a few days post-installation, which can be minimized by circulating air through your space.
• You may notice some dust. We’ll do our best to leave a clean workspace, but any remaining dust can simply be swept & up disposed of.
